In a high-powered home opener at Chargers Stadium on August 29, the Carroll Chargers couldn’t overcome Center Grove’s relentless ground game, falling 35–24 despite a standout performance from wide receiver Jaidon Van Pelt. Van Pelt hauled in three touchdown passes from quarterback Gabe Frisinger, including scores of 51, 61, and 63 yards, finishing with 227 receiving yards on nine catches. Frisinger threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns, but Carroll’s offense struggled to find balance, managing just seven rushing yards on 18 attempts. Center Grove controlled the clock and the trenches, racking up 287 rushing yards on 54 carries. Running back Nolan Rees led the charge with 143 yards and two touchdowns, while Jayden Biggerstaff and Hudson Winkler added scores of their own. The Trojans outgained Carroll 476 to 352 in total offense and held possession for over 31 minutes. Despite a late fourth-quarter touchdown from Van Pelt that narrowed the gap, Center Grove’s physicality and depth proved decisive. Carroll’s defense was led by Eli Neuhouser with 15 tackles, but the Chargers couldn’t slow down Center Grove’s methodical drives. The loss drops Carroll to 0–2, with promising signs in the passing game but clear areas for improvement on the ground and in time of possession.
